FEBRUARY & MARCH FAVORITES

So I’m seating on an airplane right now as I type this February/March Favorites. You don’t have to tell me, I know I am late in the game, but I have no time off to sit down and write anymore, which upsets me because they’re so much I have to blog about.

So let’s retrace our steps back to February-ish,

I am not disappointed in the way this year is going. There was so much going on in February that I wouldn’t mind reliving every moment of it, but since I technically can’t, we can relive them with pictures. I believe I’m getting better at time managing and multi-tasking – two very important skills to have in the business of getting shxt done. I am constantly reminding myself of the ultimate goal or the end game for everything I do. I’m also jumping into opportunities the first time they come around. Literally wasting no time. Perhaps you may want to try this out this month or throughout the year. It has worked for me to just… do it. Doing things without thinking and going with the gut feeling has been my game changer this year… so far at least. You don’t want to be the person that is going to have those should I, would I, could I regrets. Not this year my friends. We can do it.

March-Madness!

I didn’t even see the month start and it ended without saying goodbye, that bastard. Time is flying. I think it has to do with the fact that i’m enjoying every second of everyday that I am not keeping track of time. Is this happening to you? or is it just me? All I recall of March is not being home, but then again, am I ever? So guilty of this.

Trips:

If you’ve been visiting my blog, you know I went to So Cal for Valentine’s Day weekend. I had this trip planned for later on in the year, but I couldn’t say no to the opportunity of visiting one of my favorite places on this planet. Los Angeles is everything and more. I don’t want to bombard you with LA but if you want to know a bit more about it, revisit this post dedicated to my dearest So Cal.

In March I also got to travel to my motherland – Nicaragua. I was born and raised in Central America and I have so much pride being from Nicaragua. Ask my friends. Ask anyone. I think it’s important to remember our roots and where we come from. If you want to peep, checkout this blog post dedicated to Nicaragua.

Brands:

So in Feb I was fortunate to work Miami’s very own boutique Sincerely ALC. I did a Miami Girl inspired photo-shoot in collaboration with Makeup artist Gabyteemua and fashion boutique Sincerely ALC. All the photos were showcased at Miami’s very own Haven Lounge in South Beach. I think both Gaby and I were incredibly happy to have been part of this. I kept repeating the entire night, “those are my pictures up there,” and “Gaby we did it.” What seriously started as fun and games to get our names out there became a showcase of our art. I think it’s moments like these that keep me grounded and focused in the path to wherever it is I’m meant to do. I’m also very lucky to have friends that support me in these endeavors. I took a few shots of those who attended.

New findings:

The best and ultimate finding in February was Flakes in Venice Beach. Ever since my pursue to eating healthy and keeping a clean lifestyle finding a restaurant that suits my needs can be difficult. While in LA, I was looking for a place to have breakfast in the area using my iphone maps and I noticed Flakes had like 4 stars. I’m not one to trust stars or ratings. I prefer to be the judge of my food. So I went ahead and gave it a shot…. And what a shot it was. Flakes is heaven for all oatmeals, quiche, and cereals in the world. I ordered a granola, very berries, coconut, banana, and almond milk cereal. It was to die to for. They have quiche and I’m such a huge fan of it, but every time I order it in Miami it’s either a hit or miss. Flake’s was a hit. If you’re from the LA area, you’re a very lucky person and I envy you very much right now. I could have Flake’s for breakfast every day and every lunch and possibly every dinner. Because who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? If you’re visiting Venice Beach this year, go ahead and enjoy yourself here… no regrets.

Books:

It took me forever to finish this book (2 months to be exact) even though it’s an easy read. Busy life equals zero time to sit and read. However, a few friends of mine had recommended I read Tuesday’s with Morrie. Everyone has things they’re going through and sometimes it’s comforting to know you’re not the only one in the world going through it. So I decided to give TWM a shot. I’m going to start it with this quote, which is now my mantra and the reason why I’ve decided to simply just do it.

“Devote yourself into loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning in life.”

After reading this, it did put a lot of things into perspective for me. In this life-changing novel, professor Morris teaches life lessons to Mitch every Tuesday, as he did in college, but this lecture is different. I’m sure a lot of us had a teacher that taught us far beyond a classroom. I had one. In part, I think owe her the path I’ve forsaken. If you do decide to read this book, take notes. I highlighted, lined, and circled all my favorites quotes to remember them throughout this year.

On a personal level:

I am a person who lives on a schedule and itineraries. This benefits me because of the kind of life I live. I have something going on every single hour of every single day. This helps me keep busy and sometimes it helps me forget about silly problems that get in my way and cause a dead end in my life. As an advice, I think we ought to do whatever makes us happy as individuals. Whatever it is. In my case, keeping busy makes me incredibly satisfied knowing that I’m not wasting my life away by doing nothing.

Signing off my friends, but I’ll leave you with a quote from TWM:

“Do the kinds of things that come from the heart. When you do, you won’t be dissatisfied, you won’t be envious, you won’t be longing for somebody else’s things. On the contrary, you’ll be overwhelmed with what comes back.”
